Skubal Targeting Saturday Return to Minor League Action
Tarik Skubal is on track to possibly begin his rehab assignment on Saturday. The two-time Cy Young Award winner threw a simulated game on Monday, throwing 45 of 64 pitches for strikes and striking out six batters. Manager A.J. Hinch said, "It was obviously a step in the right direction and continuing to show progress and throw with freedom. Velo was normal, which means high. And his reactions are starting to get even more and more competitive." With Skubal's expected return around mid-June, the Tigers aim to restore stability in a rotation that has relied heavily on depth arms.
