Tigers Face Royals in Series Finale With Unconventional Pitching Plan
Detroit Tigers (18-22, fourth in the AL Central) vs. Kansas City Royals (19-21, second in the AL Central) Kansas City, Missouri; Sunday, 7:20 p.m. EDT. Brenan Hanifee will start for the Tigers, his first of the season. The 27-year-old righty has pitched out of the bullpen four times this season. In four games this season, he has put up a 0.00 ERA and averages 5.4 strikeouts per nine innings while opposing batters are hitting .217 against him. The Tigers will get another MacGyver-esque pitching setup with Hanifee getting the start and a Johnny Wholestaff approach from there.
