Tigers Lose Walk-Off, Face Mounting Injuries
Javier Báez was removed from Tuesday's game against Atlanta with an apparent right ankle injury after making an awkward slide into first base, while Casey Mize was removed from the same game due to right groin tightness, having allowed two earned runs on three hits with three strikeouts in 2.1 innings. The back-to-back injuries capped a disappointing end to the Braves series that already featured losses, forcing the Tigers to activate De Jesus from Toledo for bullpen work and Jung to play utility infield. Mize will continue to throw while receiving treatment, with hopes that the injury requires no more than the minimum 15 days.
