Skubal Makes Triumphant Return for Game 2 vs. Guardians
The reigning American League Cy Young Award winner will return from the injured list and start in Cleveland against the Guardians on Saturday, 38 days after undergoing surgery to remove a loose body from his left elbow. Manager A.J. Hinch told reporters, "We're adding the best pitcher in baseball back to our mix. It's hard to describe what that boost will be." Skubal made one rehab start, allowing two hits over five shutout innings for Detroit's High-A affiliate Sunday. Skubal will face Guardians LHP Joey Cantillo (4-3, 4.57 ERA) at 4:10 p.m. ET at Progressive Field.
