Tigers Face Must-Win Against Surging White Sox After Heartbreaking 10-Inning Loss
Miguel Vargas smashed a two-out, two-run home run in the bottom of the 10th inning to lift the White Sox to a 4-3 walk-off win at Rate Field on Friday night. The Tigers led most of the night, with Dillon Dingler hitting a two-run home run in the third inning, but failed to protect a 2-1 lead in the ninth and a 3-2 lead in the 10th inning. Starter Troy Melton delivered another strong performance, allowing one run in seven innings and matching the longest outing of his career. Zack Short, who turned 31 in the game, recorded his first RBI of the season with a sacrifice fly in the 10th.
